GREEN ISLAND is a 60 acre remnant of family farm enclosed within a small town in north-central Minnesota. The land’s health is being reclaimed through habitat rehabilitation and agroforestry practices. These practices are strongly influenced by permaculture values. |

ENVIRONMENTAL ASSETS:
Three acres of mature pine park, 10 acres of young pine and tamarack plantation, 1000' of creek and riverine habitat, frog ponds, sedge meadowlands, and easily accessible ground water. |
AGROFORESTRY PROJECTS:
A pine plantation, several small apple orchards, currant beds, native and domesticated fruit trials, a small seedling nursery, carbon sequestration and carbon credit sale. |
WILDLIFE ENHANCEMENTS:
A pollinator plot, reptile and amphibian basking sites, an artificial hibernaculum, raptor perches, bird feeders and shelters. |
VISITOR ATTRACTIONS:
Walking trails, an outdoor art gallery, meditation facilities, primitive camping, and unique but very limited accommodations for guests. |
