  GREEN ISLAND is a 60 acre remnant of family farm enclosed within a small town in north-central Minnesota. The land’s health is being reclaimed through habitat rehabilitation and agroforestry practices. These practices are strongly influenced by permaculture values.

Features
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSETS:
Three acres of mature pine park, 10 acres of young pine and tamarack plantation, 1000' of creek and riverine habitat, frog ponds, sedge meadowlands, and easily accessible ground water.
AGROFORESTRY PROJECTS:
A pine plantation, several small apple orchards, currant beds, native and domesticated fruit trials, a small seedling nursery, carbon sequestration and carbon credit sale.
WILDLIFE ENHANCEMENTS:
A pollinator plot, reptile and amphibian basking sites, an artificial hibernaculum, raptor perches, bird feeders and shelters.
VISITOR ATTRACTIONS:
Walking trails, an outdoor art gallery, meditation facilities, primitive camping, and unique but very limited accommodations for guests.
