Meditation and contemplation are potentially transforming practices. Beyond the religious aspect of meditation exists a tremendous tool for making the mind calm, open, and even enlightened. Insight is as accessible as removing the veils laid over daily experience by belief, convention, and culture. Then comes broad compassion for all beings, and fellowship with our environment.
Gradually a variety of small, individual, meditation huts (kutis) are being completed here at Green Island. Our kutis are available for focused personal time in: meditation, reading, prayer, study or reflection. There are also accelerating materials and methods such as: ambient tracks, binaural CDs, a white noise generator, partial sensory deprivation, and the recorded lectures of spiritual adepts and scientists available on loan.
There is no intent to give instruction or personal guidance. Diligent individual study of the texts and meditative forms from any classical mystic tradition will eventually bring one home. This is even more true for focused investigation of contemporary scientific discoveries in consciousness, brain function, perception, and brain chemistry....combined with practice.
Overwhelming... persistant... and ongoing desire to know earns insight.
Recognition of personal connection and responsibility to the Whole is, still, profoundly lacking in our national character. A transformation of individual consciousness is mandatory for the air, trees, soil, and seas as we‘ve known them to be safeguarded for the future. Perhaps Green Island can help sow seed for this change. It’s one goal.
